This a conversational blog written and maintained by Rick Visser. It was founded on February 11, 2017.
“The Drowning Child” is an exploration of ethics, altruism, and the Good, with special focus on Effective Altruism (EA), the movement and the philosophy. These reflections are my own, and should not be construed as representative of Effective Altruism.org. EA is a rapidly growing movement that attempts to answer one simple question: how can we use our resources to help others the most? It takes for its starting point the drowning child thought experiment devised by philosopher Peter Singer. For a brief summary of EA, click HERE.
